Emily and Elliot’s intimate wedding at Castle Green Hotel called for something elegant: gentle, jazz-inspired sax for their afternoon drinks reception, followed by a wedding-breakfast entrance with a very different energy.
Elliot looked the part in his tux, with a definite James Bond feel, so I put on my black-and-gold jacket and leaned into that stylish cocktail-hour atmosphere.
Jazz-inspired wedding drinks in Kendal
For this afternoon drinks package, I kept the music gentle and jazz-inspired. It suited the smaller wedding beautifully, giving Emily, Elliot and their guests a relaxed soundtrack as they enjoyed their drinks before the wedding breakfast.
I love being able to adapt the sax to the feel of a wedding. Sometimes that means full-on party energy; here, the afternoon was all about a softer cocktail sound that fitted the couple’s style.
The weather brought those familiar moody Lake District skies, but it dried up enough for photographs. There was something very fitting about that Cumbrian backdrop alongside the elegant atmosphere of the day.
A “Careless Whisper” wedding-breakfast entrance
Emily and Elliot had chosen “Careless Whisper” for their entrance into the wedding breakfast, and it was a fantastic choice. That instantly recognisable saxophone melody turned their arrival into a moment everyone could join in with.
Guests were laughing, smiling and cheering, with napkins waving as the couple came in. After the gentler drinks reception, it was such a fun change of pace and a brilliant way to bring the room together before the meal.
It’s a lovely example of how the same instrument can create two completely different moments: elegant background music for cocktails, then a playful entrance that gets everyone involved.
From afternoon sax to evening entertainment
My friend Ryan from Impress Events was booked to DJ for the evening. I was heading to another wedding, so we didn’t get to perform together on this occasion, but it was lovely knowing Emily and Elliot’s evening music was in such good hands.
Thank you both for having me at Castle Green. Your “Careless Whisper” entrance was such a joyful way to finish my part of the day.
