EBONY & HARLEY

Wedding sax at Colshaw Hall, from the aisle to the evening party

Colshaw Hall · Knutsford, Cheshire

Colshaw Hall is a venue I’m always delighted to return to. As one of its recommended suppliers, I get to play here quite often, and Ebony and Harley’s wedding was another reminder of why I love it so much.

Their day brought together a personal ceremony entrance, live sax on the lawn in beautiful weather and an evening party alongside DJ Andy Murphy. With toastmaster Ian Brown there too, it felt like a real dream team.

A bespoke saxophone ceremony at Colshaw Hall

Ebony and Harley originally booked me for their afternoon drinks reception and evening party. A few weeks before the wedding, Ebony decided to add my ceremony package as well, and I’m so glad she did. It gave us the chance to plan bespoke saxophone versions of her favourite songs for a really personal start to the day.

For the bridal entrance, I played an acoustic version of “Forever” by Chris Brown, taking inspiration from Samantha Harvey’s version. That softer approach gave the song a lovely feel for the walk down the aisle, with live sax carrying the melody.

The ceremony room at Colshaw Hall is glorious. With the white flowers, candles and timber beams around us, it was such a beautiful setting for the music.

Drinks-reception sax on the lawn

The weather was amazing, so the afternoon moved outside onto the lawn at the back of the hall. It’s one of my favourite places to play a drinks reception: guests can enjoy the outdoor bar and catch up while the sax sets the atmosphere.

It works beautifully for the couple too. While Ebony and Harley were having their photographs taken, they could still hear the live music in the background and feel part of the reception.

That’s something I really enjoy about playing wedding sax at Colshaw Hall. The music can connect the different parts of the afternoon, giving everyone a shared soundtrack while there’s plenty happening around the grounds.

An evening with DJ Andy Murphy and toastmaster Ian Brown

It was lovely to see my toastmaster friend Ian Brown again, and to work alongside Andy Murphy for the evening. Andy and I share lots of weddings throughout the year, and it’s always a pleasure. He’s so good at what he does, and we have had so many brilliant nights together.

For Ebony and Harley, the evening brought the party side of the sax after the gentler ceremony and drinks reception. Having familiar faces on the wedding team made this one especially enjoyable.

A recommended Colshaw Hall wedding supplier

Being recommended by Colshaw Hall means a lot to me. Returning regularly gives me a real appreciation for how live music can fit into a wedding here, from the ceremony room to an outdoor drinks reception and the evening celebration.

Ebony and Harley’s day was a lovely example of that variety. The ceremony add-on let us make space for a meaningful entrance song, while their drinks-and-evening booking gave them both the relaxed and energetic sides of live sax.

Thank you both for having me as part of your wedding, and to Anna at Say Yes Socials for the content featured in this story.
