DAVID & KELSEY

A soaring Coldplay sax entrance at Lartington Hall

Lartington Hall · Near Barnard Castle, North East

David and Kelsey had a lovely idea for their first dance: a little time together, then everyone joining them on the dance floor. A big live sax entrance was the perfect way to make that happen.

I was at Lartington Hall working for Impress Events, alongside my good friend Ryan Boden, for an evening of R&B, house and Ibiza favourites. This is one of my favourite North East wedding venues, and it was a pleasure to be back.

“A Sky Full of Stars” for a first-dance sax entrance

Coldplay’s “A Sky Full of Stars” has such a great build and drop for a live sax entrance. David and Kelsey wanted to keep the part of the first dance with just the two of them short, so we used the music to turn that moment into an invitation for their guests to join in.

I came in with the soaring sax, bringing the energy up and encouraging everyone onto the floor. It’s a lovely approach for couples who want that special moment together and are also keen to get their friends and family involved.

Working with Ryan Boden and Impress Events

Ryan owns Impress Events and is one of the hardest-working DJs I know. He’s a good mate and a real inspiration: a brilliant all-rounder who can bring different generations together through music.

For David and Kelsey’s evening, the sound leaned towards urban R&B, house and Ibiza hits. “The Man with the Red Face” was a particular moment for David, and I loved being able to bring the sax into music he was so clearly enjoying.

Interactive wedding sax, right among the guests

My favourite part of a party like this is getting people involved. I was reaching out to guests, inviting them into a little dance around the sax and encouraging the singalongs. The girls brought so much energy, and it was great fun responding to that as I played.

I was so busy performing that there wasn’t much time to capture the night, but these quick snapshots give a little glimpse of the atmosphere. It was all about being in the moment with David, Kelsey and their guests.

A luxury wedding setting near Barnard Castle

Lartington Hall combines a beautiful stately-home setting with a team who really look after everyone. Jamie, the manager, was fantastic and made me feel so welcome when I arrived.

The grand interiors make a gorgeous backdrop for an elegant wedding, and I love seeing that setting come alive with a proper evening party. It’s somewhere I’m always delighted to return to for live sax and DJ collaborations.

Thank you, David and Kelsey, for such a lovely evening, and Ryan for having me as part of the Impress Events team.
