Live sax, “Blue Moon” and a tipi party at Rylands Farmhouse Weddings

Rylands Farmhouse Weddings · Wilmslow, Cheshire

Claire and Ryan’s evening at Rylands Farmhouse Weddings in Wilmslow had so much of what I love about a wedding party: a great mix of music, guests joining in and little personal moments woven through the night.

I was booked for the evening party package, playing live sax alongside DJ Dave Taylor in the tipi. From a Manchester City favourite to Claire’s inflatable-sax impressions, it was a brilliant Cheshire celebration.

“Blue Moon” for two Manchester City fans

Claire and Ryan are big Manchester City fans, so I joined in on “Blue Moon” for the second song. Bringing something personal into the music makes such a difference — it gives the celebration a moment that belongs to the couple.

There was a good mix of music across the evening, with Dave on the decks and me bringing the live sax into the party. Working alongside a DJ lets the music keep flowing while I get out among the guests.

Inflatable saxophones and a lovely family moment

Claire was excellent at giving the saxophone impressions a go with her pink inflatable sax. I always recommend having a few inflatables around for the evening — they’re a fun way for guests to join in.

Another highlight was seeing Claire and Ryan’s little boy enjoying the sax set while sitting on his grandma’s lap. It was a really lovely moment in the middle of the party, and a reminder that live music can involve the whole family.

Evening sax sets before and after the food

We spread the sax sets across the evening, playing before and after the food rather than putting all the live music into one block. That gave the night different bursts of energy and let the entertainment fit around the wedding’s timings.

There was plenty of dancing and interaction throughout. It’s the kind of evening where the sax becomes part of what everyone is doing, with guests joining in rather than simply watching a performance.

Live sax in a wedding tipi

Rylands Farmhouse Weddings made a lovely setting for the evening. With sound restrictions to work within, I adapted my volume to suit the venue’s requirements. Keeping the sound appropriate is an important part of planning live sax alongside a DJ.

For couples considering a tipi wedding in Cheshire or around Manchester, the music and sound levels are worth discussing together in advance, so the entertainment fits both the celebration and the venue.

Tom Groves Wedding Photography was also there photographing the wedding, and I’m really looking forward to seeing his photographs when they’re ready. The images featured here are Gemma’s content.

Thank you, Claire and Ryan, for having me as part of your evening — and for bringing so much fun to the sax sets.
